First of all, a fantastic surprise for me was when I found a package in my mail box yesterday night. Susan had sent me a One year bible. The daily selection of scriptures is something she introduced me to a couple of months ago.Since then we have read together every Wednesday before school/work and the chapters have been a part of my mornings, every day every week.
In the note Susan wrote, "I thought you might like to have one by hand". To me it was a much bigger gift, than she probably thought. I have wanted a One year bible for months. All I was going to put on my Christmas wish list. Love you so much.

And now - to the biggest news.. I will be flying to Michigan to celebrate Christmas with my friend Bekah. It is now certain that I will go, and see the wonderful girl that I've missed for 7 years - all the time we've been apart since we lived in Africa together.
She has been the person from Malawi I kept the best contact with, out of the many friends I still talk to .. however, she was never the first I could see, because she was so far West!
Now I'm in the same country as her, and it's going to be a dream come true to spend 2 weeks with her.
The wonderful news is that Bekah's grandma raised money for my flight ticket, so the fact that I couldn't afford the trip is not a reality any more! I could get the ticket paid from a company who flies people to Africa for projects - similar to the project my dad was sent to Africa for.
So because I went to Africa with him, my ticket is fully paid.
I am just so thankful. I have no words.
When I spoke to Bekah earlier on today, our bodies were jittery from being so excited.
It's simply to good to be true.
"My Christmas gift is seeing you", she said. And I feel quite the same way.

And in 10 days my mum will arrive from Copenhagen. We will have a long weekend together and celebrate Thanksgiving with the family I've become a part of here in America. We will see the parade that the girl in the beautiful Christmas movie 'Miracle on 34th street' sees through her window on Manhattan.
We will see the Christmas ornaments hanging in windows of shops and above the avenues.
And we will walk through as many streets of New York as we can - just taking in the atmosphere and the greatness of being together.
I can't imagine how much I'll cry when I see her in the airport next Wednesday.

All of this is my Christmas gift this year!

What great joy, Jasmin.
